Continuity Throughout the Property Search, Purchase and Adaptation

Our client, who suffered from cerebral palsy, lived with his mum, dad and two sisters.

We worked with the client on the property search and purchase of this house on the outskirts of Portsmouth. PLG were instructed on the architectural side to provide continuity throughout the process.

The client needed a family home that would meet all of their needs for now and the future although wheelchair access wasn’t required.

PLG were instructed on the architectural side to provide continuity throughout the process.

the solution

PLG was instructed to extend the property to make more space for the whole family, while also allowing for a new bedroom, therapy room and bathroom for our client along with a carers bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom.

The project consisted of a single story rear extension along the full length of the property, as well as a garage conversion creating the carer’s space. Despite boasting a substantial plot, the rear garden was largely unsuitable for the client.

Extensive work was undertaken and developed into a safe and secure environment to be used all year round.

This project has completely transformed the property into a large family home that meets the needs of the client and his family, while providing the necessary scope to introduce care regimes that will have a positive impact on their lives.
